Jasmine is a Community Dance Artist based in London and the East. A Bath Spa University Alumni who gained a 1st Class BA Hons in Dance, she had dedicated her training and career to provide movement opportunities for communities who have restricted access in locations spanning from London, to Essex and Suffolk.
Jasmine previously worked for The Dance Network Association as their Dance Development Artist. This position allows her to gain experience in teaching in projects with a range of ages and abilities. She specialised in working within 'Dance for Health', working with the older generation, dance for families and early years, participants with Parkinson's, Dementia and other disabilities. As well as this, she worked with outreach programmes within schools and delivered regular workshops with the Essex Youth Dance Company, Dance Station and project managed their participation in U.Dance 2019.
Additionally, Jasmine has also previously worked as the Participation and Communications Assistant at Green Candle Dance Company, worked as Head Choreographer for Novato Dance Company and collaborated with a series of primary schools, choreographing for school productions and creative sessions.
Currently, Jasmine delivers a range of programmes with the focus on working communities who have limited access to dance opportunities. She delivers the early years classes for Bam Bam Boogies in Chelmsford on a weekly basis, as well as supporting their health and wellbeing dance programme, Project:Me. Jasmine also delivers as a Step Into Dance teacher for the Royal Academy of Dance, delivers dance parties for Bounce Studios and had been an occasional lead artist for The Dance Network Association's older generation programme RE:Generation and early years project, Active Start.
Jasmine also delivers regular classes for Danielle Teale Dance's Dancing with Parkinson's group based at St. Joseph's Hospice in Hackney and has become a lead artist on DanceEast's new intergenerational project in Stowmarket named 'Moving Together'. Making connections with different artists in the community dance industry is very important to Jasmine, one of these including Dash Dot Dance and their inclusive practice projects in Walthamstow, Jasmine being the support artist for occasional classes and events, including the Walthamstow Garden Party in 2019.
Jasmine continually develops her practice to grow as an artist and being able to offer dance to more people and communities. She has trained with many artists and companies, been mentored by dance artists Danielle Teale and Tom Hobden and has recently been accepted onto the New Adventures' professional development programme, Overture (2019/2020).
As well as teaching, Jasmine also regularly exercises her creative and performance development through producing dance films and performing with Flux Dance Collective. In 2018, Jasmine collaborated with Dominic Munson Photography to create a dance film named 'RECLAIM' which was premiered at a local festival called Flux and Friends in FirstSite, which can be found on the 'films' page. Jasmine is now working towards performing at The Rainbow Masquerade Ball with The Sequin Society to raise money for and celebrate the 40th anniversary of Outhouse East (a local charity supporting the LGBTQ+ community).
