Jasmine is a Community Dance Artist based in London and the East of England. A Bath Spa University Alumni who gained a 1st Class BA Hons in Dance, she has dedicated her training and career to provide movement opportunities for communities who have restricted access in locations spanning from London, to Essex and Suffolk.
Jasmine previously worked for The Dance Network Association as their Dance Development Artist, Participation and Communications Assistant at Green Candle Dance Company, Head Choreographer for Novato Dance Company and collaborated with a series of primary schools, choreographing for school productions and creative sessions. She now works as an independent artist, curating her own projects as well as delivering for dance and arts organisations. This includes regularly supporting and delivering for Trinity Laban's Learning and Participation Department, DanceEast, Royal Academy of Dance's Step Into Dance programme, Danielle Teale Dance, Green Shoes Arts and DashDotDance.
Recent work within the community includes delivering regular classes for Danielle Teale Dance's Dancing with Parkinson's group based at St. Joseph's Hospice in Hackney and leading on DanceEast's intergenerational project in Stowmarket named 'Moving Together'. This included bringing together a care home, primary school and a vulnerable families group to celebrate the power of movement and allow new and amazing connections to grow within the local community. Jasmine also ran a dance project for vulnerable young people in Barking and Dagenham with Green Shoes Arts and a 10 week online dance activities programme for young people with special needs for Discovery Children's Centre in Stratford, both being continued online during the start of the pandemic.
Making connections with different artists in the community dance industry is very important to Jasmine, one of these being DashDotDance and their inclusive practice projects in Walthamstow. Jasmine is the support artist for regular classes and events, including the Walthamstow Garden Party in 2019 and 2020.
Jasmine continually develops her practice to grow as an artist and being able to offer dance to more people and communities. She has trained with many artists and companies and has been mentored by dance artists Danielle Teale and Tom Hobden and completed the New Adventures' professional development programme, Overture (2019/2020).
As well as teaching, Jasmine also performs, choreographs and produces dance films. This includes her 2018 film 'RECLAIM' with her collaborator, Dominic Munson Photography.
